Horse Racing Preview for Wetherby & Down Royal 31st October 2020

Betting on Down Royal & Wetherby Races

The jumps action continues this weekend on ITV with a number of exciting races to look forward to. There is Grade 2 action from Wetherby, and Grade 1 action from Down Royal as well as a number of exciting races live from Ascot.

Down Royal 14:25- Ladbrokes Champion Chase

(Grade 1)

Alpha Des Obeaux 40/1
Balko Des Flos 28/1
Chris's Dream 10/3
Delta Work 15/8
Presenting Percy 11/4
Ravenhill 50/1
Snow Falcon 28/1
The Storyteller 13/2
Tout Est Permis 14/1

One of the first Grade 1 races of the jumps season takes place on Saturday, as the Ladbrokes Champion Chase takes place at Down Royal. There will be a number of recognisable horses in the field for this race, as it is run over three miles. Road To Respect won the last two instalments of this race for trainer Noel Meade.

Gordon Elliott trains the two favourites in the field for this year’s instalment, with both Delta Work and Presenting Percy both having strong cases to win this race.

Delta Work ended the season disappointingly with a fifth-place finish in the Gold Cup, but the blue ribbon event will once again be the aim this season. That defeat came after back-to-back wins at Leopardstown, and it’s hard to bet against the favourite to get the win in this Grade 1 race.

However, the most intriguing horse in the field that could be worth a bet is The Storyteller. This nine-year-old, who is also trained by Elliott, has won three from four in 2020, with the most recent of his wins coming in the Irish Daily Star Salutes Our Frontline Heroes Chase at Punchestown. He will be worth a bet for gamblers this weekend.

Wetherby 14:45- The Bet365 Hurdle

(Grade 2)

Chapmanshype 16/1
Copperhead 12/1
Decor Irlandais 8/1
Kildisart 20/1
Lisnagar Oscar 11/4
Next Destination 9/2
Roksana 11/4
The Dutchman 50/1
Wholestone 15/2

The exciting racing continues with a competitive looking Bet365 Hurdle at Wetherby. This race has been run since 1990 and is run over three miles. Previous winners of this race include Tidal Bay, Colin’s Sister and The Worlds End.

There is no doubt who the favourite will be heading into this race as Thyme Hill will be looking to re-find the form that she had prior to the Cheltenham Festival. The six-year-old was disappointing at the festival as the Phillip Hobbs-trained horse finished in fourth in the Albert Bartlett Novices’ Hurdle. That defeat ended a run of four straight victories, and it will be interesting to see Thyme Hill back on the track this weekend.

Next Destination and Copperhead are both interesting selections, as Next Destination has four from five starts. However, the eight-year-old hasn’t raced since winning the Irish Daily Mirror Novice Hurdle in 2018. Like Thyme Hill, Copperhead’s form also eluded him at the festival, as he went into the RSA Insurance Novices’ Chase after winning four straight. However, we expect Copperhead to rediscover that pre-Cheltenham form in this race.

Wetherby 15:20- Bet365 Charlie Hall Chase

(Grade 2)

Aye Right 20/1
Ballyoptic 7/1
Cyrname 9/4
Definitly Red 12/1
Keeper Hill 25/1
La Bague Au Roi 20/1
Mister Whitaker 25/1
Saint Xavier 100/1
Sam Spinner 5/1
Vinndication 5/2

The most exciting race of the day will take place at 15:20 in the form of the Bet365 Charlie Hall Chase.

There are two previous winners of the race in contention this year, including last year’s winner Ballyoptic. However, there are an esteemed number of well-renowned jumps horses in this race looking to take his crown away.

Ballyoptic has good recent form, as he has won three from first starts, which includes a win in his last start at Ascot in February. The ten-year-old has also won on both previous starts at Wetherby.

Black Corton and Definitly Red are also standout contenders, but it’s hard to look past the heavy favourite in the field.

Cyrname is the standout horse in the field, and will come into this looking to rediscover his very best form. Boxing day defeat at Kempton derailed this eight-year-olds season, but it remains one of the most exciting horses in training. It will be exciting to see him back racing, but this will be his first run at Wetherby. That means that we are picking last year’s winner as our tip for this race.

Betting on Match Week 7 Premier League October 31st 2020-2021The Premier League action continues this weekend, with interesting fixtures at both end of the league table. At present, there is very little separating the teams at the top of the league, while the teams in the relegation battle will be anxious to get a first win of the season.

Manchester United vs Arsenal

There isn’t much doubt about the biggest game taking place this weekend, as both Manchester United and Arsenal will be looking for vital points to close the gap on the teams currently in the top four. These two sides were typically fighting for the league title, which meant that this fixture was one of the most viciously contested. However, while these teams aren’t fighting for the league title in this modern era, there is still no love lost between the great rivals.

Match Kickoff Home Win Draw Away Win
Man Utd v Arsenal 1st November 2020 4:30 pm 1/1 13/5 13/5

Manchester United will be hoping to end their worse run of home form since 1972, as they haven’t won in their opening three home matches. There was more Old Trafford frustration for the Red Devils in their last fixture at home against Chelsea, as Marcus Rashford had the best of the chances in the 0-0 draw.

The heroic English striker saw an excellent effort saved in the final minutes by Edouard Mendy. Edinson Cavani also made his United debut in the draw, and almost scored with his first touch in the famous red shirt.

Arsenal Looking to Find Form

Arsenal’s early-season optimism has now vanished as they have lost their last two in the Premier League. The Gunners haven’t scored in either of these two matches, as they were beaten 1-0 by both Manchester City and Leicester City. It was once again Jamie Vardy that ruined Arsenal’s party at the Emirates as he scored the winner late in the game.

Manchester United will be looking for their 100th win against Arsenal this weekend, but they haven’t beaten the Gunners in the Premier League since 2018. Arsenal have won two of the previous three, with the last two meetings at Old Trafford ending in draws. It could be another draw at the Theatre of Dreams for these two famous rivals.

Fulham vs West Bromwich Albion

The biggest match at the bottom of the Premier League this weekend will see two of the newly promoted sides battling for a first win of the season. It already looks set to be a long season ahead for both clubs, but they will be keen to end their wait without a top-flight win at Craven Cottage on Monday evening.

Match Kickoff Home Win Draw Away Win
Fulham v West Brom 2nd November 2020 5:30 pm 7/5 23/10 2/1

The pressure on Scott Parker is already building after six games this season, as the club are without a win and have lost on five occasions already.

Only West Brom have conceded as many goals as Fulham so far this season, and Parker’s side will come into this match having lost four of their previous five games. Their most recent defeat was against Crystal Palace, with Tom Cairney scoring a late consolation for the home side on that occasion.

Fulham’s Chance to Bag First Win

The Baggies have fared slightly better than the playoff winners, as they have lost just three of their six games and have picked up three draws. West Brom have picked up two points from a possible six recently, as they have drawn against Burnley and Brighton & Hove Albion.

The Baggies fought back against Brighton to claim a first away point of the season, with Karlan Grant scoring his first goal for his new club. However, Slaven Bilic’s frustration has been building this week, as he was left irritated with the club’s decision to sell Ahmed Hegazi.

West Brom haven’t beaten Fulham in ten years, with six of the last eight meetings between the sides ending in draws. There have also been four straight draws between the sides. However, it’s looking like Fulham could get a first win of the season here to ease pressure on Parker.

Horse Racing tips for Qipco Britih Champions Day October 2020This week we said goodbye to one of the most loved horses in training, after it was revealed that Enable would be retiring from the sport that she had dominated throughout her career. However, this weekend, the action turns back to the track, and there is a huge day of racing from Ascot as Qipco British Champions Day will be live on ITV.

13:55 Qipco British Champions Sprint Stake

(Group 1)

It is Group 1 action all the way on ITV this Saturday, and that will get underway with the British Champions Sprint Stakes. This race will be open to horses aged three and over and is run over six furlongs. Previous winners of the race include The Tin Man, Sands Of Mali and Muhaarar.

Dream Of Dreams will head the betting for the race after winning on his last two starts. The most recent of these was the Sprint Cup Stakes at Haydock in early September, where he held off Glen Shiel. One Master and Oxted also come into the race having won recently, with One Master winning the Qatar Prix de la Foret at Longchamp.

The most intriguing of the horses at the top of the betting is three-year-old Starman, who has won all three career starts. This will be the first step up to Group 1 action, but we expect big things.

14:30 Qipco British Champions Fillies & Mares Stake

(Group 1)

The action continues with the British Champions Fillies & Mares stakes, which will be open to horses aged three and over. The field will run one mile and three furlongs, and there have been some noteworthy winners of this race in the past. Among the previous winners are Crystal Capella, Journey and Star Catcher. Magical will also be looking to make history in this race this year by becoming only the third horse to win this race on two occasions.

The decision made by Aidan O’Brien will have a huge bearing on which direction this race will go in. Magical has entries for this race and the Champion Stakes, but it’s likely that the trainer will instead opt for the latter.

Wonderful Tonight will be the market leader, but Antonia De Vega’s price will certainly shorten the closer we get to Saturday. She has won both previous starts, with these wins coming at Pontefact and Newmarket. She is one of the horses that we expect to run well, but her Ascot form isn’t the best. Frankly Darling is one of those that has form at this course, as she won the Ribblesdale Stakes at the royal meeting.

15:05: Queen Elizabeth II Stakes

(Group 1)

The next race will be the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes, which will be open to horses aged three and older. It will be run over one mile, and previous winners of the race include Roaring Lion, Desert Prince and the immortal Frankel.

This should be one of the most open races during Champions Day, as there are four great horses in contention. Palace Pier will be the favourite as the three-year-old has won all three starts this season. That includes success at Ascot in St James’s Palace Stakes in June.

It’s hard to look past the favourite, but Kameko could have a chance if the three-year-old can rediscover its form from Newmarket at the end of September. On that occasion, it won the Shadwell Joel Stakes against Regal Reality.

15:40: Qipco Champion Stakes

(Group 1)

The biggest race of the day will take place at 15:40 as the Qipco Champion Stakes takes place. Horses that are at least three-years-old will be able to compete in this race, and it is run over one mile and two furlongs. This race has been won by some famous horses throughout its history, including Frankel, Cracksman and Nayef.

Magical will be at the top of the betting for the race, and it’s incredibly hard to look past the winner from last year. This five-year-old has been in excellent form this season, as it has won three from four starts. The only blip on Magical’s record came in the International Stakes at York where it was beaten by Ghaiyyath. However, Magical returned to form excellently last month by winning the Irish Champion Stakes.

Magical is the standout horse in the field, but Mishriff and Addeybb have both enjoyed fantastic seasons and could upset the form book. Mishriff has won its last three, while Addeybb has won three from four this season. However, the preference remains for Magical to get the win for trainer Aidan O’Brien.

Premier League Match Week 5 Betting Preview 2020-2021The Premier League returns this weekend after the international break. There are a number of huge games taking place this weekend, with implications at the top of the league table. Fans will be hoping for more of the drama that was taking place before the international break, but could there be some more shock results?

Everton vs Liverpool

The action in the Premier League returns with a huge Merseyside derby on Saturday. Everton will go into the first derby of the season at the top of the league, while Liverpool will be looking to get their recent 7-2 mauling at the hands of Aston Villa out of their system.

An In Form Everton

The Toffees haven’t beaten Liverpool for ten years, but this could be their best chance in recent history. Dominic Calvert-Lewin has been one of the stars of the season already, as he has scored six goals in four games. That form has seen him called up to the England squad, and make his international debut during the recent international break.

Everton come into this game having won four from four in the Premier League, and no team has scored more goals than them so far this season. They won their last game in the Premier League 4-2 against Brighton & Hove Albion. Calvert-Lewin scored in that game, while there was also a brace for James Rodriguez. However, this will be their first big challenge of the season this weekend.

Liverpool Look to Bounce Back

There will need to be a reaction from Liverpool this weekend as they were toothless in their last league game against Aston Villa. Defensively they were weak throughout, and in truth, they could have lost by more than seven. Only West Bromwich Albion have conceded more goals than the defending champions so far this season, and Adrian will once again be in goal for the Reds.

Liverpool’s excellent record against the Toffees stretches back to 2010, but Liverpool haven’t won at Goodison Park since 2016. This could be an entertaining draw between the two Merseyside rivals.

Manchester City vs Arsenal

Manchester City will welcome Arsenal to the Etihad having failed to win in their last two Premier League games. Meanwhile, Arsenal have recovered well since being beaten for the first time this season against Liverpool. The Gunners won their last league match against Sheffield United, with Nicolas Pepe among the scorers in the 2-1 win.

However, the Gunners haven’t beaten City at the Etihad since 2015. They will come into this will confidence though, as they beat City in the semi-final of the FA Cup back in July. Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang scored the two goals in that win. It does certainly feel that the Gunners are back on the right track under Mikel Arteta, but a top-four finish remains the aim for the club this season.

City’s last game in the Premier League was against Leeds United, but they were held at Elland Road by the returning Yorkshire giants. Defensively there are still issues surrounding City, but they will feel confident that their positive record against the Gunners will count for something in this fixture.

Tottenham Hotspur vs West Ham United

There could be a second Tottenham Hotspur debut in his career for Gareth Bale this weekend, as it has been reported that he is nearly at match fitness. The setting couldn’t be more perfect, as one of his most memorable moments in a Tottenham shirt came against the Hammers in his final season with the club before moving to Real Madrid.

Spurs couldn’t come into this fixture in better form, as they hammered Manchester United 6-1 before the international break. Harry Kane and Heung Min-Son both scored braces in that win, and both will likely look to continue their excellent scoring records this weekend.

West Ham have also turned a corner over recent weeks in the Premier League, as they have won their last two. They have beaten Wolverhampton Wanderers and Leicester City, and scored a combined total of seven goals and haven’t conceded. David Moyes will be back on the touchline this weekend, but it’s hard to see past Tottenham continuing their excellent run of form.

Betting Preview - UEFA Nations League 11th October 2020

Nations League Betting 11/10/2020

The second international break of the season takes place this weekend, and there are a number of intriguing fixtures that football fans will be looking forward to. Some of the best national sides in the world will be in action, and they will be hoping to find their form as the European Championships begin to creep into sight.

England vs Belgium

The most interesting fixture of the weekend in the Nations League will take place on Sunday afternoon, as England welcome Belgium to Wembley. The fixture will be a repeat of the third-place playoff from the 2018 World Cup, and England will be looking to put down a marker for the year ahead against the top-ranked side according to the FIFA rankings.

Gareth Southgate has been questioned for the first time during his England reign over the past couple of months, as the excitement that came with the Three Lions run to the 2018 World Cup semi-finals has started to fade. The biggest example of that came in England’s last fixture against Denmark, as Southgate opted to play a defensive team to avoid losing in Copenhagen.

England managed just two shots on target in that lacklustre outing, and fans will be hoping for a chance to see more of the attacking players at the manager’s disposal in this match.

Belgiums Run of Form

There is a sense that the European Championships will be the last chance saloon for much of this golden generation of Belgium talent, and their recent form would suggest that they could be one of the sides to watch. They won both their previous Nations League games against Denmark and Iceland and scored seven goals.

The most recent of Belgiums games came against Iceland, where a much-changed team won 5-1. Michy Batshuayi scored a brace in that win.

Both managers will likely start at full-strength for this meeting, which could mean that England will be faced with the proposition of keeping Romelu Lukaku and Kevin De Bruyne quiet to get the win. It’s hard to see Belgium not scoring due to the defensive inability that England have shown over recent games.

France vs Portugal

Football fans will be given an insight into what they can expect to see at next summer’s European Championships, as world champions France host Portugal on Sunday night. These two sides will face off at the EUROs next year, as they have both been drawn in Group F.

France will be among the favourites to win the competition next year, and it’s hard to argue against that after studying the embarrassment of riches that they have in their squad. They have started their Nations League campaign with two wins from two, with their most recent win coming against Croatia. Antoine Griezmann and Olivier Giroud were among the scorers in that 4-2 win.

Cristiano Ronaldo will once again have the hopes of Portugal on his shoulders. Ronaldo was in excellent form in their last game, as he scored twice in Portugal’s 2-0 win against Sweden. Bruno Fernandes, Bernardo Silva and Joao Felix will also be important players for Portugal over the next 12 months, but it will be difficult to see them getting anything from this game against the world champions.

Horse Racing Preview for Newmarket 10th October 2020

Betting on Newmarket Races 10/10/2020

After a pulsating weekend of action in France, the ITV cameras move back to England this weekend as there are three group races from Newmarket. The action will be headlined by the Group 1 Darley Dewhurst Stakes, while two interesting Group 3’s will also capture the imagination.

14:55 The Darley Dewhurst Stakes

(Group 1)

There will be one eye on the future at Newmarket this weekend, as the most prestigious race available to juveniles is run in the Darley Dewhurst Stakes. The race is a good indicator for the horses that we could expect to see challenging for the Classics next season and is open to two-year-old fillies and colts. This race is run over seven furlongs.

Previous winners of the race include Nijinsky and Churchill, who both went on to win the 2,000 Guineas. A number of horses could be in contention to win this race, with high prices currently available for Tactical (20/1) and Devious Company (33/1). However, it’s unlikely that either will declare for this race, which means the front runners will be the ones that gamblers are keeping an eye on.

Thunder Moon, Battleground and Alkumait all come into this race with proven pedigree over this distance and have all won their last race. However, it’s incredibly hard to look any further than the favourite in the betting at present. Chindit has won on all three previous starts for trainer Richard Hannon, and all those successes have come over this distance. She is yet to run at Newmarket, but that shouldn’t be a problem for this classy two-year-old.

13:45 Godolphin Flying Start Zetland Stakes

(Group 3)

This first group action of the afternoon will come in the Godolphin Flying Start Zetland Stakes. The race was upgraded to Group 3 last year after it was deemed a Listed race from 2015. There have been some illustrious winners of this race over recent years, with winners including Kew Gardens and Coronet.

The race is run over one mile and two furlongs and is typically a wide-open affair. Aidan O’Brien has trained the winner of two of the previous three in this race, with Norway being his most recent success in 2018. The three market leaders are all from his yard, and all come into the race with wins in their last race. Kyprios is the most intriguing of them, as he won fantastically over this distance at Galway in early September.

However, none of the market leaders have raced at Newmarket in the past, which means gamblers could look elsewhere in the market. Mystery Angel (20/1) could be one of the most intriguing, as he won at Newmarket on the 26th September, but that was over seven furlongs. If he can manage the step up in trip, then he could be a good each-way bet.

14:20 The Emirates Autumn Stakes

(Group 3)

The exciting 70-minutes of action on ITV will also include The Emirates Autumn Stakes. This Group 3 race is open to two-year-old horses and is run over one mile. Notable winners of this race include Persian King and Ghaiyyath, who have both gone on to have huge success after winning this.

William Buick has a good record in this race, as he has won two instalments in the past five years. He will ride either Dhahabi or One Rules for trainer Charlie Appleby. Both horses come into this after not winning last time out, but both are quality horses that gamblers will have an interest in. Van Gogh will also be in contention, but the Aidan O’Brien horse has entries for this race as well as the Zetland Stakes.

Royal Champion and Akmaam both come into this after wins last time out, with Royal Champion’s win coming in the Maiden Stakes at Newmarket in September. The pick for this will be Lost In Space (10/1), who has won over this distance already at Newmarket this season in the Nursery Handicap. The John Gosden-trained horse has also won his last three, with two of these wins coming at Newmarket.

Horse Racing Preview for Ascot Newmarket The Arc, 2-3 October 2020Get ready for an intense weekend of racing on ITV this weekend. The headline action is one of the biggest races in the world of flat racing, the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe. Despite Saturday’s action, all eyes will be on Enable attempting a third Arc win in the landmark race at Longchamp.

Betting on Ascot, Newmarket & The Arc

Longchamp 15:05 (Sunday)

Qatar Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe (Group 1)

The biggest race this weekend takes place on Sunday, as The Arc takes centre stage. A who’s who of the racing world are coming together for one of the most prestigious races of the season. Thoroughbreds aged three and over are able to run in the race.

There are no prizes for guessing who all the attention will be on this weekend. Enable will be looking for a record-breaking third success in this race. This will also be six-year-olds final race, making for an emotional day for jockey Frankie Dettori. Enable did fall short in this race last year, coming in second, but her pedigree for this distance and form this season is unquestionable. She has won her last two, with her most recent win coming in the Unibet September Stakes.

Enable is looking promising for every reason imaginable. No sport comes close to horse racing when it comes to stories, and this is the biggest story you could ever wish for. It is the romantic selection, as well as the knowledgeable one. There are two very serious threats to the story though.

Love has won three prestigious races this season, including the 1000 Guineas. The young pretender could dominate this race for years to come. Stradivarius has also found a new lease of life, winning at Royal Ascot and Goodwood this season.

Newmarket 14:45 (Saturday)

Kingdom Of Bahrain Sun Chariot Stakes (Group 1)

There is also Group 1 action from Newmarket this weekend, as the Kingdom of Bahrain Sun Chariot Stakes takes places. The race is run over one mile, and there are a host of horses that could be in contention for this one. It is open to fillies and mares aged three and over. Past winners include Sahpresa, Spinning Queen and Laurens.

This year’s field will be led by Champers Elysees, who has won her last four. J P Murtagh will be looking for a first win in the race. There will be confidence in this three-year-old, as she comes into this after winning the Group 1 Matron Stakes at Leopardstown. That was her first win over this distance though, and she has no experience at Newmarket.

Peaceful is also among the favourites, but Champers Elysees beat her in that Group 1. Terrebellum is another solid selection, with winning at Newmarket this season. Half Light for trainer H A Pantall is also an intriguing proposition having won three of her last five starts. However, whether this step up in quality is too much for the French-trained horse remains to be seen.

Ascot 15:40 (Saturday)

John Guest Racing Bengough Stakes (Group 3)

There looks to be value for gamblers in the Bengough Stakes, which is the pick of the races from Ascot on Saturday. This race is run over six furlongs and has been won by horses such as Royal Rock and Blue Point in the past.

Another past winner of this race is Cape Byron, who won last year’s instalment. The Roger Varian-trained horse will be looking to become the only horse to win this race in consecutive years. However, the six-year-old has been inconsistent in form since last year’s race, as it has only won on one occasion. This will also be Cape Bryon’s first run since October last year.

Nahaarr comes into this race after winning at Ayr last time, while Aljady has won its last two. The most recent of these wins came in the Eddie And Violet Smith Conditions Stakes.

Dakota Gold and Tabdeed are also proven horses at this distance, along with The Tin Man. However, The Tin Man’s recent form may put off some people in this race.

Betting Preview for Match Week 4 Premier League 2020-2021The second international break of the Premier League season is fast approaching, and this weekend signals a two-week break. But, which teams will be going into the break with a win under their belts?

Manchester United vs Tottenham Hotspur

The most intriguing game of the weekend will see Jose Mourinho return to Old Trafford. It will be the second time that the Portuguese manager has taken his Tottenham Hotspur side to the Theatre of Dreams. Jose will be hoping for a much better result than the one he got last season.

Mourinho was left fuming after their most recent Premier League game, as Spurs were denied three points after Callum Wilson converted a spot-kick after a handball by Eric Dier. The manager was annoyed by the decision, as Dier was facing away from the ball when it happened. It was one of many decisions indicating how big an impact the handball rule change is having. The aim for Spurs this season is a top-four finish, and a victory over United would be a show of intent for the season.

The Red Devils also encountered a dubious match-deciding decision in their game, but it went in their favour. VAR spotted Neal Maupay handling the ball, despite the referee blowing the full-time whistle. The ref then restarted the game in the 100th minute for a spot-kick, allowing Bruno Fernandes to snatch United all three points. A strange decision, but one that means United have now picked up their first three points of the 2020-21 season.

Spurs have won just once in their previous six visits to Old Trafford. That success came in 2018 when Mourinho was still in the hot seat for Man United. This will be an entertaining game, but with both teams not firing on all cylinders, a draw wouldn’t surprise us.

Leeds United vs Manchester City

The past week would have been one of reflection for Pep Guardiola, as he was left pondering after City’s 5-2 defeat against Leicester City last weekend. It won’t get any easier for the Citizens this weekend, as they will come up against the third-highest scoring side in the Premier League at Elland Road.

Defensive issues have plagued Guardiola’s City over the past 12 months, and early evidence this season suggests that those issues are still prominent. Aside from Nathan Ake, the other three defenders that started against Leicester had a part to play in their downfall. Eric Garcia, Kyle Walker and Benjamin Mendy all gave penalties away in the game, with two of those being converted by Jamie Vardy, who has now scored nine goals against Guardiola’s City.

Leeds have enjoyed an excellent run of results since returning to the Premier League this term, and Marcelo Bielsa may be targeting something more significant than just survival. Only Leicester and Liverpool have scored more than the Whites this season, but there is still a sense that they will concede too many goals. Their reason 1-0 win over Sheffield United was their first clean sheet of the season, but this will be a much more testing fixture.

This will be the first meeting between City and Leeds in the Premier League since 2004, and Leeds have won three of the previous five.

Southampton vs West Bromwich Albion

West Bromwich Albion picked up their first point since returning to the Premier League last time out against Chelsea, but Slaven Bilic will be hopeful of going into the international break with a first win of the season under their belts.

The Baggies were excellent in the first half last time out against Chelsea. They went into the break with an improbable 3-0 lead after a brace from Callum Robinson and one for Kyle Bartley. That was exactly the type of performance that the Baggies needed, as they hurried and hassled Chelsea around the pitch. However, their second-half performance saw them give away three goals and they were made to settle for a point. While the Baggies would have taken a point at the beginning of the game, it isn’t good enough to succumb to giving away a three-goal lead in the Premier League.

It had been a difficult start to the new season for Southampton, but they finally registered their first win of the new campaign last weekend. The Saints claimed a hard-fought 1-0 win away at Burnley, with Danny Ings scoring the only goal of the game after five minutes. Ings has now scored three goals in three games this season. The Saints will be hoping to claim three more points against the Baggies to ease any worries that they could get dragged into a relegation scrap.

The Baggies don’t have the best record against the Saints, as they have won just once in the previous seven meetings in all competitions. Southampton have also won the last three in the Premier League with an in form Ings.

Horse Racing Banner Betting on Newmarket 26th September 2020It has been another difficult week in the world of racing after it was revealed that the pilot event that was due to take place at Newmarket this coming weekend had been postponed. Government guidance means that no fans will be admitted, which will come as another blow to racing in the United Kingdom. While fans will not be in attendance, there are three huge group races for gamblers to look forward to from Newmarket on ITV.

Newmarket 13:50

The Juddmonte Royal Lodge Stakes (Group 2)

The group action at Newmarket gets underway with The Juddmonte Royal Lodge Stakes. The race is open to two-year-old colts and geldings and is run over one mile. This race is one of the most exciting during the Cambridgeshire Meeting, and there have been some notable winners throughout its history. Previous winners include Frankel and Roaring Lion.

Aidan O’Brien has trained the last two winners of the Royal Lodge Stakes, and he trains the two favourites in the field. High Definition comes into the race after winning on his maiden start at Curragh last month, while Van Gogh was second last time out at Leopardstown. Krypios is another of O’Brien’s horses in this race, and also comes in off the back of a win last time out.

There will also be interest in New Mandate and Gear Up, who have both won their last two. However, both these wins have come over seven furlongs. The preference is for High Definition to continue the excellent start to his career.

Newmarket 14:25

The Juddmonte Cheveley Park Stakes (Group 1)

There are two Group 1 races in an hour on ITV on Saturday, and that kicks off with The Juddmonte Cheveley Park Stakes. This race is open to two-year-old fillies and is run over six furlongs. It is typically a race that is used as a stepping stone to the 1,000 Guineas for the following year. However, the last horse to win both way Special Duty, who won the 1,000 Guineas in 2010.

Miss Amulet and Dandalla are the two standout contenders in this competitive field. Miss Amulet is trained by K J Condon and will be ridden in this race by Ryan Moore. She has been in excellent form this season and has already won three from four starts. The most recent of those was the Sky Bet Lowther Stakes (Group 2) at York in August. Dandalla has won three from three, with the most recent of those victories coming in the Duchess Of Cambridge Stakes (Group 2) in July.

Gamblers looking for more value could look at Happy Romance. She has won her last two over six furlongs, while Umm Kulthum has also won over the same distance this season. However, the preference is for Dandalla, who has already showcased her ability over six furlongs at Newmarket this year.

Newmarket 15:00

The Juddmonte Middle Park Stakes (Group 1)

The final Group 1 action of the Cambridgeshire Meeting at Newmarket is The Juddmonte Middle Park Stakes. Colts aged two are able to run in this race, and it is run over six furlongs. Famous past winners of the Middle Park Stakes include Charming Thought, Ten Sovereigns and Earthlight. Aidan O’Brien is the leading trainer in this race, as he has won it six times, which includes winners in two of the past three.

His leading chance in this race is St Mark’s Basilica, who won over six furlongs in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Maiden. This should be the most competitive race of the day, with six of the runners having won group races this season. The Lir Jet is an intriguing 10/1 chance and has won two from four starts this season for trainer Michael Bell. Supremacy is also an interesting selection and has won two from three this season.

However, the preference is for Tactical for Her Majesty The Queen. Tactical has won two from four this season. He was able to follow up her win in the Windsor Castle Stakes at Royal Ascot with another win in the Tattersalls July Stakes (Group 2) at Newmarket in July. It was a fifth-place finish in the Darley Prix Morny- Finale des Darley Series (Group 1) at Deauville last time out, but with William Buick back on board, he is our pick.

Premier League Match Week 3 Betting PreviewAll 20 teams have now played at least once match this season, so expect the action to ramp up over the coming weeks. The question is, which games should you be keeping an eye on for match week 3?

Brighton vs Manchester United

Defeated at Old Trafford by Crystal Palace for the second season running, Manchester United are not off to a great start this season. The United faithful are not happy after crying out for summer transfers. Two defeats on the bounce in the league could land the Red Devils in crisis.

A brace from Wilfried Zaha and early strike from Andros Townsend bagged Palace a well deserved three points. The only positive for United was a debut goal for Donny van de Beek.

Brighton Ready for the Challenge

Brighton earned their first Premier League win of the season last time out beating Newcastle United 3-0. Neal Maupay scored twice, while Aaron Connolly also scored his first of the season. The Seagulls will be without Yves Bissouma against United, with the midfielder being sent off in the final minute.

United can not afford to start the season with two consecutive defeats, but Brighton will not make it easy for them. If Brighton can play to the level that they have done in their opening two games, then the Double Chance bet for Brighton/Draw would be interesting.

Manchester City vs Leicester City

The league leaders head to the Etihad on Sunday afternoon to take on Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City. Leicester have started the season excellently, which could increase their chances of achieving a top-four finish this season.

The Foxes run of two wins in nine to end the 2019-20 campaign meant that they needed to settle for a fifth-place finish, as Manchester United overtook them on the final day. However, Brendan Rodgers’ side have returned to action this season looking re-focused on the task ahead of them.

Jamie Vardy started the season scoring a brace in a 3-0 win over West Bromwich Albion, before James Justin, Harvey Barnes and Dennis Praet were on the scoresheet in their recent 4-2 success against Burnley.

Manchester City Start Strong

City started a week later than the majority of the league due to their European commitments at the end of last season. However, they didn’t look like they had missed a step as they were impressive in the first-half against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Monday night.

Kevin De Bruyne and Phil Foden scored to put the Citizens in complete control at the break. Raul Jimenez pulled one back before Gabriel Jesus wrapped up the win in the final stages.

City looked like a team on a mission in their opening game, but the same defensive issues still look to be apparent. Regardless, their attacking third is so dangerous you expect them to grab three points to keep up with Liverpool.

Liverpool vs Arsenal

The final game from the third round of matches in the Premier League takes place on Monday night, as Arsenal travel to Anfield. They also met in the third game of last season, and the Reds ran out 3-1 winners.

Liverpool were more assured defensively in their last league game, holding off Chelsea comfortably to win 2-0. Fabinho was played in central defence by Jurgen Klopp in that fixture. It will be interesting to see whether he plays the Brazilian alongside Virgil van Dijk again for this game.

Thiago came on for his Liverpool debut at the break against Chelsea and immediately set the tone for what fans can expect to see from the talented midfielder. He ensured the Reds remained composed after Sadio Mane scored a brace to take the game away from Chelsea.

Have the Gunners Got What it Takes?

Arsenal started with two wins from their opening two games for the second season running. Mikel Arteta is doing a fantastic job, with the mentality introduced indicating they could be challenging to beat this season.

The Gunners hung on through parts of their game against West Ham United, but their resilience was rewarded. Arsenal patiently opened up the Hammers, which allowed Eddie Nketiah to give Arteta’s side all three points.

The Reds will be wary of the threat posed by the Gunners, but Liverpool have proven they can get the job done at home and we expect they will claim another three points.
