bet365 Mastercard: what it was, and what to use now

Can you still get a bet365 Mastercard? No, the card has closed. You could load money onto the card until 10pm on 31 December 2024, and cards could no longer be used after 31 December 2025. In Australia, bet365 Mastercards stopped working at 10pm on 26 September 2026.
What was the bet365 Mastercard?
The bet365 Mastercard, or bet365 card, was a prepaid Mastercard that let UK customers move returns from sports bets out of their bet365 account. Once the money was on the card, you could spend it online or in shops, take it out at a cash machine, or move it back to your bet365 account. It was issued by EML Money DAC under licence from Mastercard International.
It worked like any prepaid Mastercard: you could only spend what you had moved onto it. It wasn’t a credit card or a debit card.
How did you get a bet365 Mastercard?
The card was for UK residents aged 18 or over with a bet365 account, and it only used pounds (£). Getting the card was free. You applied from the Bank section of your bet365 account and accepted the cardholder agreement, and EML, the card issuer, could ask for proof of identity and address. The card then came in the post with a letter explaining how to activate it.
The bet365 Mastercard PIN
You got your PIN from the bet365 Mastercard portal in the Bank section of your bet365 account, and could look it up there again if you forgot it. You could change it at most cash machines.
Using the bet365 Mastercard
While it ran, you could:
- take cash out at any cash machine that accepted prepaid Mastercard
- pay online wherever prepaid Mastercard was accepted
- pay contactless in shops that accepted prepaid Mastercard
UK purchases were free, but fees applied to cash machines outside the UK and to payments abroad or in other currencies (see the fees below).

Its withdrawal and spending limits were:

How money got onto the card
You could only load the card with returns from sports bets, moved from your bet365 account. For example, if you deposited £20 by your usual payment method and a £10 sports bet returned £40, only the £40 could go to the card. Money usually arrived on the card straight away. You couldn’t load it from a bank account or with cash.
Are there any fees for the bet365 Mastercard?
Getting the card was free, but some fees applied while it ran: £5 for a replacement card, £1 plus the operator’s fee at cash machines outside the UK, 2.99% on payments or cash withdrawals in other currencies, or with shops outside the UK, and £2.50 a month after six months without using it.
I still have money on my bet365 Mastercard
Under the final cardholder agreement, you ask bet365 Customer Services to move any balance left on the card to your bet365 account, and your identity is checked first. The agreement charges a redemption fee on requests made more than a year after the card closed (31 December 2025 at the latest), but doesn’t give the amount, so ask before 31 December 2026 and check with bet365 first.

Can you use a prepaid or credit card at bet365?
No. bet365’s UK help centre says: “You will be unable to deposit with a Credit Card, Pre-Paid Card or Corporate Card.”
