Paddy Power’s football rules: Super Sub, the woodwork and the final whistle

A player bet can lose because your player went off injured after 20 minutes, or because his shot came back off the post. Paddy Power has written rules for both. Super Sub covers the first: back a player on a qualifying market, and if he’s substituted, the bet wins if his replacement does it instead. There’s nothing to opt into, and the market carries a Super Sub icon. It covers the Premier League, the three Football League divisions, the FA Cup from the third round and the League Cup. It also covers the Champions League and Europa League from the league phase, and the World Cup.

On the player shots-on-target markets, from one or more up to four or more, a shot that hits the woodwork counts unless the market says otherwise. The App Store listing says those markets now include the Premier League, Champions League and FA Cup.

The odd one is what happens after the final whistle. On televised games, a booking shown after full time counts towards your bet, as long as Paddy Power knows in advance and can prove the booking took place. So does a corner awarded in the last seconds that nobody had time to take (extra time and penalties don’t count for either). Televised means the channels Paddy Power lists, from Sky Sports Main Event and TNT Sports to BBC One, ITV1 and the games included with Amazon Prime.

Accumulators, Bet Builder and Bet Builder+

A standard accumulator on Paddy Power takes up to 20 selections. Bet Builder puts several picks from one match into a single bet, and Bet Builder+ goes a step further: it joins Bet Builders from different matches, so each leg can be its own set of picks from a separate game. The Google Play listing adds a Popular Bet Builder section showing what other users are backing in real time, a tracker for following a Bet Builder in play, and ACCA Stats on your multiples, top wins and strongest markets.

Cash out on Paddy Power, and when it isn’t there

Cash out isn’t on every market, so look for the cash out icon before you bet. In Paddy Power’s words, “Some popular markets are not eligible for Cash Out as standard”. Where it is offered, you can cash out in full or in part, the partial one on a slider. It can also go during an event: the help centre gives a suspended market as one example, and one Google Play reviewer said their World Cup Bet Builders became “unavailable to cash out after the first 20 minutes”. So I wouldn’t count on cashing out later. Cash out is also one of only two ways to cancel a bet once it’s placed, the other being a request through live chat.

Live betting and streaming on the Paddy Power app

The Paddy Power app takes in-play bets, and you can watch football, tennis and golf free with just a login. UK and Irish racing needs a funded account. So do races from the US, South Africa and India, while French, German, UAE, Mauritian and Latin American races need a bet first, £1 to win or 50p each way. The football, tennis and golf pictures come from third parties and run 2 to 5 seconds behind, sometimes more. Paddy Power’s store listing promises over 100,000 live events a year.

Power Ups and the Rewards Club once you’ve joined

Power Up tokens add a percentage to your odds and work on singles, accas and Bet Builders (Paddy Power’s own example turns 5/1 into 5.75/1 with a 15% token). Paddy’s Rewards Club pays a weekly free bet if you opt in and place five qualifying bets at evens or bigger between Monday and Sunday. The maximum free bet varies from customer to customer, Power Up bets don’t count, and missing two weeks in a row opts you out. Paddy Power withdrawals: choose the deposit method with the payout in mind

Pay by Bank is Paddy Power’s quickest way to withdraw: the help centre says the money appears in your bank immediately, though you should allow at least 90 minutes for the first one. Withdrawals to an eligible Visa or Mastercard take 1 to 4 hours, and other card withdrawals 2 to 5 working days (one help article says 2 to 3, up to 5). PayPal, Skrill and Neteller take 4 to 24 hours. There are no fees on cards or Apple Pay, and none on inactive accounts.

Think about the payout before you deposit, because Paddy Power runs a net deposits rule, which it says regulation requires: each payment method gets back at least what you paid in with it before money can go anywhere else. So the way you fund the account, including the Pay by Bank, debit card or Apple Pay deposit the welcome offer asks for, decides where your first withdrawals go. Logging in and getting verified

Photo ID only comes into it if the automatic age and identity checks fail when you join. Then you upload a passport, driving licence or national ID card as a JPEG or PNG, because PDFs and screenshots aren’t accepted for ID. Once you’re in, a four-digit PIN or your fingerprint gets you back into the app without typing your password, and you’re logged out if the app sits unused for 24 hours. Deposit limits, breaks and the limits Paddy Power sets itself

If you’re chasing the Rewards Club’s five bets a week, set a weekly deposit limit first. Limits run by the day, week or month, either on deposits alone or as a net deposit limit, which takes your withdrawals off what you’ve paid in. Paddy Power applies a lower limit straight away and makes a higher one wait 24 hours. Self-exclusion, which Paddy Power calls a Long Break, runs from six months to five years and can cover one product or all of Paddy Power online. It now reaches the wider Flutter group’s brands, though not Paddy Power’s betting shops. Shorter breaks of 1 to 30 days and loss limits are there too.

Paddy Power can also set limits you didn’t choose, including a monthly Spend Budget based partly on a soft credit check that won’t affect your credit score, and time limits of its own.

Who runs the Paddy Power app, and its regulatory record

If you bet on sport with Paddy Power in Great Britain, the licence behind it belongs to PPB Counterparty Services Limited, Gambling Commission account 39439, part of Flutter Entertainment. It has held a remote betting licence for real events since November 2014, and one for virtual events since October 2017. Your balance is held on trust by The Sporting Exchange (Clients) Limited, which Paddy Power says meets the Commission’s high level of protection for customer funds.

In December 2025 that company was one of four Paddy Power Betfair licensees covered by a £2 million settlement with the Gambling Commission. The Commission’s findings covered various periods between August 2023 and May 2024. It found that checks on customers at risk of harm weren’t sensitive enough to spot signs such as overnight play and fast-rising deposits, and in some cases action wasn’t taken in time.
