How the index works
The model is designed for a weekly Monday morning UK-time refresh. If an update fails, the last fully verified snapshot stays live.
- Recent form and points per game
- League table pressure and relegation proximity
- Winless-run signals
- xG trend and xG underperformance, when enough recent completed-match coverage exists
- Goal-difference trend
What this index can't assess
The model cannot see private club discussions, dressing-room dynamics, or boardroom timelines.

Common questions about the Manager Pressure Index, how the scores are calculated, and what the page does and does not claim.
What does manager pressure mean here?
On this page, pressure means the level of public performance pressure showing up through form, league position, xG trend, underperformance, and related signals.
How is the score calculated?
The score blends weighted components for recent form, table danger, winless runs, goal-difference trend, and, when enough completed-match coverage exists, xG trend and underperformance versus xG. If xG coverage is too thin, those xG factors are excluded and the remaining weights are rescaled.
Is this the same as a sack race?
No. The page acknowledges that sack-race search interest exists, but the model itself measures pressure signals rather than trying to predict a club board's next move.
How often is the page updated?
The intended cadence is a weekly Monday-morning UK refresh. If a scheduled run fails, the last verified snapshot stays published and the page marks the data as stale.
Does this page predict who will be sacked next?
No. It is a public-data model that highlights performance pressure. It does not claim to know what clubs will do next or when they might act.
