Why I started BettingApps.org

I kept reading betting app reviews written by people who had clearly never opened the app. Screenshots lifted from the App Store, feature lists copied from the operator’s own marketing page, and a rating that seemed to track the size of the commission rather than the quality of the product.

I have been betting for years and building websites for longer. BettingApps.org is the site I wanted to exist: one where somebody actually downloads the app, deposits real money, places real bets, and tells you what it is genuinely like to use.

Building tools to beat the acca

Long before this site, I built and ran a football accumulator website. Not a content farm — a working product. I wrote team form trackers, head-to-head stats tools, and a value-betting algorithm to find prices that were out of line with what the underlying numbers suggested.

That experience shapes how I review apps now. When I look at a bet builder or an in-play interface, I am thinking about what the tool is really doing with the odds, where the margin sits, and whether the feature helps you or just helps you bet more often.

How I test betting apps

Every app in our reviews is installed on a real device and used with a funded account. I check deposits and withdrawals with my own money, place bets in live markets, and look at what happens when something goes wrong — because that is when an app either holds up or falls apart.

I apply the same rigour I use auditing websites professionally: check what the product actually does, not what the operator claims it does. Where an operator gets something right, we say so. Where the withdrawal times are slow or the odds are uncompetitive, we say that too.

Where my background comes from

I have spent over 15 years in SEO and digital marketing. I run MCR Digital Marketing, and before that worked as SEO Manager at Spectrum Brands, as an SEO Specialist for Expedia across Australia and New Zealand, and as a Business Analyst at Google/Xpand.

On the betting side, I am a regular at the racing — Cheltenham Festival included — an experienced casino player who has spent time in Las Vegas, and a lifelong Manchester United supporter, which explains the football bias. I have attended gambling industry conferences across the UK, Europe, the USA and Thailand, which gives me a view of the operator market well beyond the UK.
