William Hill cash out: how to cash out and when you can’t
Cash out lets you settle a William Hill bet early, before its result is in, at the value William Hill shows you. It’s available on selected markets, for singles and multiples, in the app and on the website. Open My Bets, and when cash out is available you’ll see a button showing the amount, which you tap and then confirm. Bets placed with a free bet can be cashed out too, minus the value of the free bet. Each way bets can’t.
William Hill’s help centre says partial cash out isn’t available yet on its new version, so for now it’s the full amount or nothing. Racing bets have tight windows too: no cash out during a race, on ante post bets, or between 22:00 and 08:00 GMT.
Every rule here comes from William Hill’s help centre, as it read on 2 October 2026.

How to cash out on William Hill
- Tap My Bets.
- When cash out is available, you’ll see a button showing the cash out amount.
- Tap Cash Out, then choose Cancel or Confirm.
- If the value changes while you’re confirming, a message tells you, and you’ll be offered the revised value to accept.
- When the cash out is complete, a message says you’ve cashed out successfully.
Your cashed out bets then appear in Account History, under My Transactions, clearly labelled.
The figure on the button is what you’d get. William Hill’s rules call it “non-negotiable”, and its own example is a £5 bet at 10/11 showing a cash out value of £8.43. The value can also be less than your stake, and it can fall to £0.00. You don’t have to take it: Cancel leaves the bet running as it was.
Why can’t I cash out on William Hill?
Cash out only works while your bet is still running and betting is still open on every unsettled selection. William Hill lists these reasons:
- betting is suspended on one or more of your selections, which can happen in play when something significant occurs or is likely to, such as a goal, a possible red card or a possible penalty
- your bet includes a Price Boost, Bet Builder or #YourOdds market, whether it’s on football or racing
- the market isn’t one that has cash out
- it’s an each way bet
- there’s an obvious pricing error on a selection
- the cash out value has fallen to £0.00
- the cash out feature itself is suspended
On an accumulator, one selection without cash out makes the whole bet ineligible. And if a cash out request isn’t processed for any reason, it isn’t honoured: the bet is settled on the official result instead.
William Hill is clear that the feature can disappear: “Cash Out is a functionality that William Hill cannot guarantee the availability of.” So don’t place a bet on the assumption that you’ll be able to cash it out later.
Is there partial cash out on William Hill?
William Hill’s help centre says: “Partial Cash Out isn’t available yet on the new version, but we’re working to get that fixed as soon as we can.” Until that changes, you can cash out the full value of a bet or leave it to run.
Which William Hill bets can you cash out?
Cash out is available on selected markets for all bet types, including multiples and perms such as doubles, trebles and four folds, though not on each way bets. In football that means a range of markets on most matches, before kick off and in play.
If a multiple mixes pre-match and in-play markets, when you can cash it out depends on each leg’s market. William Hill’s example is a bet on an in-play market in Arsenal v Liverpool and a pre-match market in Chelsea v Stoke. Cash out is available during play in Arsenal v Liverpool and before play in Chelsea v Stoke, but not during play in Chelsea v Stoke.
Outright bets such as a league or tournament winner can be cashed out before a match starts and between matches, but not during one. On some sports, including baseball, handball and rugby league, bets can only be cashed out in play.
Horse racing
- Win only singles and all multiples, including the Trixie, Patent, Yankee, Lucky 15, Canadian and Lucky 31.
- Not unnamed favourites, each way bets, or the win part of an each way bet.
- UK and Irish races only, and never ante post.
- Before a race starts and between races, while betting is still open, but not during a race.
- Not between 22:00 and 08:00 GMT.
- If your horse is subject to a Rule 4 deduction, the cash out value is reduced to reflect it.
Free bets and boosts

| Impact Sub, placed online | Yes, wherever there’s a value, based on the substitute’s price |
William Hill cash out FAQ
Can I cancel a cash out?
Before you confirm, yes, by choosing Cancel. Once you’ve confirmed and seen the success message, the bet is cashed out. William Hill’s help centre doesn’t describe any way to undo a confirmed cash out.
What happens if a cash out is accepted in error?
William Hill voids the cash out and settles the bet on its original terms, with the correct prices applied. A selection with an obvious pricing error may not be cashed out at all. If something about a cash out looks wrong, William Hill’s Customer Service team is available 24/7 through its Messaging service.
