How to close or delete your bet365 account
You close, or deactivate, a bet365 account yourself online: open the Account Menu, choose Gambling Controls, then Account Closure, and pick how long you want it closed. A closure reopens by itself at the end of the period you choose, so to delete your account for good, pick Indefinitely. If you want a firmer break, bet365 also offers self-exclusion, and GAMSTOP lets you self-exclude from online gambling companies licensed in Great Britain.
| Option | How long | Can you reopen early? | Where to set it up |
|---|---|---|---|
| Account closure | One week, one month, 3, 6 or 12 months, a date you choose, or indefinitely | Yes, by logging in and choosing Reopen Account (unless you closed it through bet365’s customer care team) | Account Menu, Gambling Controls, Account Closure |
| Time-out | 24 hours, 48 hours, 7 days, 30 days or a custom period | No, not until the period ends | bet365’s safer gambling tools |
| Self-exclusion | 6 months, 1 year, 2 years or 5 years | No, not for any reason | Account Menu, Gambling Controls, Self-Exclusion |
How to close your bet365 account
- Select the Account Menu at the top right of the screen.
- Choose Gambling Controls.
- Press Account Closure.
- Select the closure period and your main reason for closing.
- Click Continue to finish.
The closure periods are one week, one month, 3 months, 6 months, 12 months or indefinitely, and if none of those suits you, you can enter a specific date instead. If you’d rather not do it yourself, bet365’s customer care team can help through its Contact Us page.
How to reopen a closed bet365 account
To reopen an account you closed indefinitely, or to reopen early, log in and select Reopen Account, then follow the on-screen steps. You can also go to the Account Menu, then My Account, then Account Reopening, complete any security questions and press Continue. A closure for a set period needs nothing from you: the account reopens when the time is up.
If you closed your account through bet365’s customer care team, contact the team again to reopen it.
Can you delete a bet365 account permanently?
The closest thing to deleting a bet365 account is closing it indefinitely, which doesn’t reopen by itself. bet365’s privacy policy also says you can ask it to delete the personal data it holds about you.
Time-outs, self-exclusion and GAMSTOP
For a break, bet365 has two other tools.
Time-out
A time-out stops you betting and gaming for 24 hours, 48 hours, 7 days, 30 days or a custom period. A custom time-out can be one-off or recurring, for example every week from Monday 9am to Friday 5.30pm. You can still log in to withdraw your balance during a time-out, and you can’t reactivate the account until the period has ended.
Self-exclusion
bet365 suggests self-exclusion if you feel you’re at risk of developing a gambling problem, or think you have one. You choose 6 months, 1 year, 2 years or 5 years, and whether it covers sports, casino or both. During that time the account can’t be reopened for any reason, bet365 takes you off its marketing lists, and it will do all it can to detect and close any new account you open. You can still log in and withdraw your balance.
You can set it up in the Account Menu under Gambling Controls, Self-Exclusion, or through bet365’s customer care team. bet365 also suggests turning off its notifications, deleting its apps and unfollowing its social media accounts, and getting support from a problem gambling service such as the National Gambling Helpline (0808 8020 133, free, 24 hours).
Is bet365 on GAMSTOP?
Yes. GAMSTOP is a free service that lets you self-exclude from online gambling companies licensed in Great Britain. bet365’s UK operators, Hillside (UK Sports) ENC and Hillside (UK Gaming) ENC, are licensed by the Gambling Commission. bet365 points customers to GAMSTOP on its own self-exclusion page. You sign up at gamstop.co.uk. For betting shops there’s a separate scheme at self-exclusion.co.uk, and SENSE covers land-based casinos.
Why is my bet365 account restricted or closed?
bet365 says you’re usually told the reason when you log in. If you’re not sure why you can’t use your account, contact bet365’s customer care team. Two common reasons bet365 gives:
- Your location. bet365 needs to know you’re in a country where it can offer its services, so it doesn’t support VPNs. If you’re on holiday and can’t get in, contact bet365.
- A second account. bet365 runs one account per customer, and if it finds you’ve had an account before, a new one may be restricted while it completes its checks.
FAQ
Can I open a new bet365 account after closing one?
No. In bet365’s words, “bet365 operates a one account per customer policy”, so reopen your existing account instead. If you’re self-excluded, bet365 will do all it can to find and close any new account. If you’re finding it hard to stay away, the National Gambling Helpline is free on 0808 8020 133, 24 hours a day.
Can I cancel a bet365 self-exclusion early?
No. A self-exclusion can’t be reopened for any reason before the period you chose ends. When it ends, you can come back to bet365, and depending on where you live, you reactivate your account either online or by contacting bet365’s customer care team.
