Sky Bet Acca Freeze: how it works and the rules
Sky Bet’s Acca Freeze lets you freeze one winning leg of a football acca while the game is still being played, and Sky then settles that leg as a winner whatever the final score. To get the option you need at least five match result selections in the acca, placed before kick-off on Sky’s listed competitions, with a stake of £20 or less. Each bet gets one freeze, from a weekly allowance of three.
A draw can never be frozen, though, and a freeze only looks after the leg you pick, so every other leg in the acca still has to win.

How does Acca Freeze work on Sky Bet?
Sky’s help puts it like this: “Once you’ve chosen a leg to freeze, it will be settled as a winner even if the other team goes on to win the match.” So if your team is 1-0 up in the first half and you freeze them, it no longer matters for that leg if they lose 2-1.
The other legs carry on as normal, and four or more results still have to go your way for the acca to pay out. If you want to see what a five-fold would return before you build it, our acca calculator works it out from your prices.
How to use Acca Freeze on Sky Bet
To freeze an acca leg on Sky Bet, the bet has to qualify when you place it, and the freeze itself comes later, from My Bets. These are Sky’s steps, with the labels from its example screens:
- Go to any football Full Time Result coupon.
- Add five or more selections from Sky’s listed competitions, all before kick-off, keep the stake within Sky’s maximum and place the bet.
- Look at the bet in My Bets. In most cases Sky shows its Acca Freeze symbol on the acca once it’s placed: a blue snowflake on a yellow background.
- Once your games kick off, go back to My Bets and find the bet under Open. When a leg is winning, the bet shows Acca Freeze available with how many selections are available to freeze (for example, 3 of 5).
- Tap it to see your legs. In Sky’s example, winning legs show Tap to freeze and games that haven’t started are greyed out. Pick one and press Confirm freeze, and the message reads “You’re using Acca Freeze to lock in the latest score for Chelsea @ 6/4”. The bet then shows Selection frozen with the score, the minute and the price.
Sky Bet Acca Freeze rules
Sky’s Acca Freeze promotion page has Terms & Conditions and Info tabs, but they only repeat the steps and the short list of terms from the help article. For the rest of the Sky Bet Acca Freeze terms and conditions, go by Sky’s help articles and clause 17.7 of its general terms. Clause 17.7 lets Sky withdraw your use of Acca Freeze at its reasonable discretion, with notice where possible, or without notice if it believes fraud or cheating has taken place. I’d like Sky to add the exclusions to that Terms & Conditions tab.
Sky’s App Store and Google Play listings describe it as working on “any 5-leg accumulator bet”, which undersells it. The help article says five legs or more, and that’s the one to go by.
Which competitions count?
These are the 36 current competitions on Sky’s list on 7 October 2026, grouped by country. Sky doesn’t date its list (it still names three finished tournaments, the 2026 World Cup among them), so the snowflake on your bet is the better guide to whether an acca qualifies.
| Group | Competitions |
|---|---|
| English leagues | Premier League, Sky Bet Championship, Sky Bet League One, Sky Bet League Two, National League |
| English cups | FA Cup, Carabao Cup (EFL Cup), Community Shield |
| Scotland | Scottish Premiership, Scottish Championship |
| Spain | La Liga, Segunda, Spanish Super Cup |
| Italy | Serie A, Serie B, Italian Super Cup |
| Germany | Bundesliga, Bundesliga 2, German Super Cup |
| France | Ligue 1, Ligue 2, French Super Cup |
| Rest of Europe | Dutch Eredivisie, Dutch Eerste Divisie, Portuguese Primeira Liga, Belgian Jupiler League, Turkish Super Lig |
| UEFA competitions | Champions League, Europa League, Europa Conference League, UEFA Super Cup, Nations League |
| Rest of the world | Argentine Primera Division, Brazilian Serie A, MLS (USA), Australian A League |
Can you freeze a draw on Sky Bet?
No, not at any point in the match, even with the score level and five minutes left. Sky’s help is blunt about it: “The draw outcome will qualify you for AccaFreeze but you won’t be able to freeze a draw leg at any time.”
A draw selection still counts towards your five legs, so you can back a draw or two and freeze a different leg in the same acca. That leg has to be a team to win, and the team has to be ahead when you freeze.
How many games can you freeze on Sky Bet?
Sky Bet caps how many Acca Freezes you get: one leg per acca, and three freezes a week, with the count resetting at 8am every Monday. Sky doesn’t publish a maximum number of legs. Your games don’t have to be on at the same time either, so an early kick-off and an evening game in one acca each give you a chance to freeze (just not both).
With only three a week, I’d hold them back for the accas you care about most.
Acca Freeze with cash out, free bets and other Sky offers
Cash out still works after you’ve frozen a leg, and Sky says the frozen leg adds value to your cash out in the same way a winning settled leg does.
You can use a free bet to qualify for Acca Freeze, Sky says. The free bets from Sky’s welcome offer won’t do it, because Sky only lets you use them on single or each-way markets. And Sky’s cash out rules keep Cash Out unavailable on a free-bet acca until the cash-out figure is higher than the free bet.
2UP and BuildABet both rule a freeze out. 2UP is a separate market, and our Sky Bet app review covers how it pays out early. A BuildABet brings in selections from other markets, and our guide to Sky Bet’s Request a Bet and BuildABet explains how those work.
Sky doesn’t say whether a freeze works with a Booster, Super Sub or Money Back as a Free Bet. Its Money Back FAQs do say bets placed using Money Back “will not qualify for other promotions”.
What happens if a match is abandoned, postponed or a goal is overturned?
A frozen leg stays frozen if VAR rules the goal out afterwards: “Frozen legs will still count even if the goal is overturned by VAR.” While a VAR check is going on, the freeze option may be suspended until the decision comes through.
Sky’s help covers three cases for abandoned and postponed games. If you froze a leg and that game is then abandoned, the freeze stands. With a leg frozen and a different game in the acca abandoned, the bet is settled on the remaining legs, frozen ones included. And if you haven’t frozen anything yet and an abandoned or postponed game leaves fewer than five legs in the bet, you can’t freeze any of the ones that are left.
Sky Bet Acca Freeze not working?
If the snowflake symbol is missing once you’ve placed your acca, check the bet against the table at the top. A selection added in-play, a competition that isn’t on Sky’s list, a BuildABet or a stake over £20 will each rule it out.
Sky also says that on some occasions it can’t confirm Acca Freeze for a bet until a game kicks off, so a bet that meets every rule may get the option later. If you’d rather not take that chance, its own suggestion is to cash out and place the acca again on selections that do qualify. I’d look for the symbol before the first game kicks off, every time. Once a game has started you can’t put that leg back on pre-match, and one in-play selection rules out a freeze on the whole bet.
When the symbol is there but the freeze option isn’t showing during the match, Sky gives these reasons:
- the team you backed isn’t winning
- the game has gone to extra time
- the market is suspended, for example while prices change after a goal
- Sky has lost its live feed, and Sky says it accepts no liability when that happens
- an abandoned or postponed game has taken the bet below five legs
The limits can stop it too, if you’ve already frozen a leg on that bet or used your three freezes this week. If none of that fits, the reason may be your account. Sky says it may not have given Acca Freeze to all customers yet, and it can restrict an account from using it. For anything else, Sky’s live chat is open from 7am to 2am, or you can send Sky Bet Help a private message on X (@SkyBetHelp) or Facebook.
Sky Bet Acca Freeze FAQs
Does Sky Bet Acca Freeze reduce your odds?
No, going by what Sky publishes. Sky doesn’t say a freeze changes your price, and its help says the frozen leg is settled as a winner. In Sky’s own example screens a £10 five-fold shows potential returns of £190 both before and after a leg is frozen. Yogonet’s report of the October 2023 launch said a frozen leg pays out at the initial price.
Does a frozen acca count towards Sky Bet Club?
Yes, Sky says using Acca Freeze still qualifies you for Sky Bet Club. Club only counts cash stakes, though, so an acca staked with a free bet won’t count.
Can Sky stop me using Acca Freeze?
Yes. Sky’s Acca Freeze exclusions article says it can stop an account using the feature. Its examples are a review by the Trading Team, or a pattern of betting that looks like an attempt to abuse it. It’ll tell you by email where it can, but restrictions can be applied without notice, Sky says it isn’t obliged to explain why, and it doesn’t review one on request. Any bet you’ve already frozen isn’t affected.
Is Acca Freeze the same as insurance on your acca?
No. Acca Freeze gives nothing back if another leg loses. The nearest thing Sky has is Money Back as a Free Bet. Sky says it returns your stake as a free bet if one leg of your acca or BuildABet lets you down, on cash stakes only. Our acca insurance guide covers that type of promotion.
A frozen leg doesn’t stop the rest of an acca from losing, so only stake what you’re happy to lose. 18+ only. For free, confidential support, visit BeGambleAware.org or call the National Gambling Helpline on 0808 8020 133.
