A new report from Onavo shows that the William Hill app is most popular in terms of active users, but bet365 is ahead on monthly engagement from users.

Onavo mobile data company have shared figures that show that in the UK 4.3% of iPhone owners are using one or more sports betting apps, showing it’s an ever expanding market.

The top 3 players in mobile betting apps are currently

William Hillwith 38% actively using their app

Paddy Powerwith 32% actively using their app
bet365with 24% actively using their app

It also shows that there is a lot of overlap from various apps, meaning users don’t just stick to one betting app. We have always advised the use of at least 3/4 different bookies to help get the best odds for each bet and to take advantage of multiple sign up offers. Clearly lot’s of users are already taking advantage of this!

While William Hill has the most active users, the data showed that bet365 gets the most engagement from their sports betting app with on avereage users placing bets on 5.6 days out of every month. When you compare this to William Hill who’s users are on 4.1 days and Paddy Power who’s users are only active 3.3 days over the month on average, it’s quite an achievement.

What does this mean for Betting Apps?

This reports shows the large amount of users who are currently running sports betting apps on their mobiles and it looks like this number will be increasing year on year. With the UK being one of the most established mobile gambling markets in the world, continued improvement and investment in mobile betting apps is a sure thing. This is great news for all you gamblers out there as it means better functionality, security and even better incentives to start you winning some money!
